Opus 1 – Vocalise for Solo Cello
Three initial performances in 1998 in Madison, WI. Performed multiple times by Pablo Mahave Veglia on solo recital tour 1999. Published by Alliance in WI. Radio broadcast in WI in 2000. Recorded on Vocalise CD (Released March 2010, see below) by Matthew Herren.
Opus 2 – Two Songs of Two Loves (Mezzo Sop. & Piano)
A commission from Mezzo Soprano Jordana Lenon (Song #1) initially premièred in 1999 in Madison, WI. Subsequent performances in Topeka, KS (2007); Kearney, NE (2009) & Lawrence, KS (2010). Recorded on Vocalise CD (2010) by Sharon O’Connell Campbell – Mezzo Sop. and Ellen Bottorff – Piano
Opus 3 – Book of Prayers for Solo Tenor
Multiple performances in Church settings since in the late 1990s. #2a & b Recorded by Jason Parr on Vocalise CD.
Opus 4 – Tabernaculae Dei (The Dwelling Places of God – SSAA) Commission premièred for Edgewood College, premiered in Madison in 1997. Subsequent performance on public concert in 1998 and radio broadcast on Wisconsin public radio.
Opus 5 – Psalm 46 (SA)
Commission from piano teacher Irmgard Bittar, for voice and recorder, premiered in 1999. Subsequent performances in Church settings of SA version.
Opus 6 – Of Height and Depth: Four Songs for Soprano & Piano Originally completed in 1990 and premiered in Ann Arbor, this piece was recorded in 1994 on The Reconciliation CD (see below).
Opus 7 – Three Motets (SSAATB)
Originally completed in 1993 and premiered by Madison Chamber Choir, this piece was recorded on The Reconciliation CD and recorded again for the Voicalise CD. The second movement, Truly, Truly I Say to You is published by Alliance Publications, Inc.
Opus 8 – Declamations and Epiphanies for Full Orchestra
My Masters thesis, a large-scale one-movement piece; as yet unperformed.
Opus 9 – In the Beginning Was the Word for Full Orchestra
This piece was completed in 1998 and selected for the 1999 Perfect Pitch orchestral reading sessions with the Minnesota Orchestra (Now the Minnesota Orchestra Composers Institute).(list of works cont.)
Subsequently premiered by Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra in Madison in 2000, James Smith conducting.
Opus 10 – Psalm 100 (SATB, Flute & Piano)
Commission from local piano teacher Irmgard Bittar and premiered in 1999 by Lutheran Church of the Living Christ Choir. Performed on my March 7, 2010 doctoral recital by KU Chamber Choir. Recordedon the Vocalise CD.
Opus 11 – Thirty-three Psalm Tones on the Doctors of the Church
Collection of psalm tones for liturgical use. Used many times in liturgical settings in the Kansas City in Kansas Diocese. Also used in Opus 12 below in Psalm verses and, as such many are recorded on Responsorial Psalms for Advent and Christmas CD (see below).
Opus 12 – Responsorial Psalms for Advent and Christmas
Collection of Lectionary Psalms written in 2003-4 while at St. Benedict’s Abbey, and subsequently used many times there and at weddings and St. Lawrence Center in Lawrence, KS and recorded professionally on Responsorial Psalms for Advent and Christmas CD (see below).
Opus 13 – Two Mass Settings for Organ, Congregation and Choir
Mass of St. Benedict (setting #1) written in 2003-4 while at St. Benedict’s Abbey and Benedictine College. Subsequently used many times there and at weddings and St. Lawrence Center in Lawrence, KS.
Opus 14 – Elegiac Folk Song for French Horn and Piano
Commission from French hornist Alice Codiek and premièred by her and Ellen Bottorff in 2008. Subsequent performance on 2010 doctoral recital.
Opus 15 – Ballade for Violin & Piano
Premiered at KU by Tami Lee Hughes and Ellen Bottorff in 2009 and subsequently on 2010 doctoral recital. Recorded by Tami and Ellen on Vocalise CD.
Opus 16 – Capriccio for Flute, Oboe and Piano Commission by Allegrésse Trio and premièred by them in 2009. Subsequent performance on my 2010 doctoral recital with plans to record the piece on one of Allegrésse’s future CDs.
Opus 17 – Three Anthems for the Holy Season of Lent (SATB a cappella)
Premiered on my 2010 doctoral recital with other performances of #2 – Of Thy Mystical Supper at St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center.
Opus 18 – Seven Reflections on the State Songs (Violin & Bassoon) #1 – Ad Astra per Aspera originally written (in one day) for the Helianthus Ensemble’s 1st annual Iron Composer contest in 2009. Subsequently performed as an encore for my 2010 doctoral recital.
Opus 19 – Fanfare on the Destiny of Fate (Brass & Percussion)
Completed in early 2010 and premièred by the KU brass and percussion on my March, 2010 doctoral recital with Frank Perez conducting. This piece is slated to be done in August 2010 by the top group at Raphael Mendez Brass Institute in Denver Colorado.
Opus 20 – Te Deum for Chorus and Orchestra
Doctoral dissertation piece currently in progress; early Fall projected completion date to allow for a December graduation.
